zoot suits..
the internet is pretty shitty for researching history outside of wiki fucking pedia
apparently, at least to my understanding is the movie "malcom x" is not exaggerating when depicting the zoot suits worn on black characters.
i would also imagine these suits would eventually come in several varieties, perhaps determined by race.. for example perhaps mexicans wore them a bit differently or were less colorful? i dont know.
but im assuming the blacks wore the most flamboyant colorful ones? ...did these colorful suits actually exist? i really cant imagine what they must of actually looked like. the ones in the movie seem a bit like hollywoodish. like a bit too perfect.
this is all too funny to me. the suits are completely stupid, i dont find them funny at all. the thing i find funny is the mentality of everyone, both the people who wore them and the people who were appealed by them. its really a big funny picture that i cannot possibly sit here and describe to its entirety. but also, seeing others making fun of the "zooters"...
there is this one common pic of tom (from tom and jerry) on the internet wearing a zoot suit and fanning his shoulders. its actually hilarious. hes got his shoulders fanned out all the way and his mouth is gaping open with a smile. just that single picture is funny, im not sure what the entire episode it was taken from is all about
but anyway, yeah, anyone have any zoot suit knowledge to share with me?
