They were just oversized pants and jackets with tailored ankles and sleeves. Sometimes, only the jacket was oversized. Apparently, a truly complete outfit included a long watch chain, two-tone Oxfords, and a broad-brimmed hat. Very pimpish and difficult to distinguish from '40s gangster clothing, which was probably more zooty and colorful because gangsters had more money than ghetto/barrio kids.
