Unless you can find someone who doesn't ever need to eat or use the bathroom, I doubt one guy is operating the elevator for 8 hours straight. At any rate, it might not be anywhere near the most interesting job, but I would gladly take it over MANY things people out there are doing in order to make a living. So while you're working barefoot doing hard labor in some extremely sketchy mine in Africa, I'll be counting my lucky stars that I could at least partially survive just by pressing buttons inside a box. Honestly, stop being a fucking idiot. Lots of people are doing miserable shit in order to put food on their plate. Yeah, maybe you wouldn't like it because you're claustrophobic, but there's no shortage of jobs out there where you'd be confined to even tighter spaces. So for every negative aspect of it, there's jobs that are even worse in every way.
