Generally, you have to go with Victorian horror. Examples include the 1945 version of
The Picture of Dorian Gray
, the 1959 version of
The Mummy
, and a 1961 adaptation of Henry James' The Turn of the Screw titled
The Innocents
.
A shortcut is to look for movies with Peter Cushing, Basil Rathbone, and George Sanders. I'll throw in Deborah Kerr just because she speaks beautifully no matter what.
