For Regency English and Jane Austen treatments, see ONLY the 1995 series adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. All the other versions are crap.

Consider also the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility. This one strays wildly from the novel, but it's so good you don't care. Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon speaks impeccable English. So does everyone else, but Rickman is the most fun to listen to.

I know you said no romances, but properly speaking, Jane Austen didn't write romance novels. She dwelt on the economics and politics of prospective marriage. Love entered into things, but not as much as people think.

Okay, so the movies are romances. So what. Watch them anyway. You'll like them.
