The last AMD machine I built (Ryzen 2600) wouldn't even post with a GTX 780. AMD claims it's a problem with the card bios. It works fine if I set pcie to legacy mode or use a Ryzen 3000 series cpu though.
I haven't really had too many issues with linux but I really only use it on a macbook. Biggest problem is that it's basically useless without an internet connection.
