Who the hell knows on actual eShop titles? Last I remember (it's been awhile since I bought/downloaded one), Nintendo still uses its stupid system of showing you Mario hitting a box to represent the download.
I think Vita has like 1600-1700 games? Not bad, but again coupled with the PSP and PS1, you have access to a huge library. That said, you're totally right in that the Vita doesn't have a ton of unique games to play; mine is primarily for games I could play on my PC, but would rather play on a handheld (Spelunky, Darkest Dungeon) and streaming games from my gaming PC. Also, played through quite a few ScummVM games on it (which admittedly, you could also do with the 3DS)
Would love a Switch, but they were too expensive for me to justify, coupled with the potential for the drift issue and the potential to have it bricked by Nintendo if you hacked it, I decided on the Vita for $100 and all the free games.
