Subject: lads...

hd-dvd is dead :(

the format has a very limited selection of movies, and all the good ones (and many others) succumb to disc rot.
its a production issue

the format is so cool, it was very enjoyable to view while the movie lasted (up until the second layer of the disc)
there are so many unique little things about it, its such a cool format.
hd-dvd is like a combination of software and video, more so than dvd ever was or even blueray
it has many cool uniqe features in sofware, and the custom menu for the movie i was watching (unforgiven) was so cool
also, as a bonus, the way xbox 360 handles hd-dvds is totally retro,
all the settings menus are in the classic blades format. its really amazing to see a legit blades UI running in 2020.
audio settings, video settings, misc settings are all in classic blades. these are system specific settings separate from the hd-dvd specific settings from the disc

the quality of video is not bad at all too
its also somewhat unique in a sense, where there codec is very period specific from 2008

and of course, that red case, my favorite part of the media...
it just looks soooo cool.
very sad to see this failure, but it was fun while it lasted
