Your hum might be cause by caps, and not the tubes. Not surprising because cheaper consumer electronics will have pretty crappy Chinese parts, particularly the electrolytics, rather than decent much longer lasting Japanese ones.
Also, JJ tubes are reasonably priced but are actually new, made in part by equipment purchased from the old Czechoslovak Tesla brand.
As for recommending Rockville, I'll never touch them again. The very first piece of audio gear I tried for my current setup was a pair of their HD5 speakers. There were issues that I'm certain were inherent in the product and not just faults with my unit, which I refuse to believe went undetected during development testing, in other words, they didn't give a shit about quality where it matters. Also, after not hearing back from them regarding a question I had, made me realize they didn't really give a shit about their customers either.
