Over here, both sides have been broadcasting how they're going to contest the results for well over a year now, so what's happening right now shouldn't surprise anyone. The only way someone could think it would be a landslide is if they live in a bubble with their head up their ass. There is a life outside of tv and the internet though. I guess you could try to rationalize media predictions with some guesswork and excuses, and those might hold water if those predictions were based on reliable data to begin with. Twitter and spam calls are not reliable though.
If you really can't be bothered to talk to anyone, you can gauge things somewhat close with google trends as long as your search terms are specific enough at the given time, but you have to know what to search for. People have been doing this all year to gauge the betting markets, and it's been more or less 50-50 the whole way (for the trends, not the markets). Last year, the markets heavily favored Clinton, while trending heavily favored Trump, and some people made out with a large profit.
