Subject: RE: Lots of people in my circle of friends

During all this, I have been most fascinated by the incredible irresponsibility of what passes now for the press. Everyone knows that journalism performed a high dive into a wet handkerchief a long time ago, but I couldn't have foreseen the recent bald-faced editorializing that has replaced news reporting. Not only that; the media no longer seems to be conscious of their own stupidity.

A moment ago, I was watching CBS's celebration coverage in Washington. The anchors touted Joe Biden's ability to lead us out of the COVID crisis while watching, with beaming approval, crowds of snuggling, slobbering idiots who apparently had some kind of exemption from social distancing. I kid you not. Not one journalist seemed to notice this situational irony.

I have seen things like this everywhere, coming from every media outlet. People have surrendered their brains completely. I won't go into how nobody is really looking at the numbers on the CDC website and what those numbers mean. I won't point out the utter stupidity of phrases like "on the front lines" and "bringing us all together." What does any of that crap mean? Together against what? What front lines are you talking about? You mean those cowardly doctors huddling in front of their computer screens and refusing to see patients? Or maybe you mean rioting idiots tearing down monuments? I'm not really sure.

I don't have anything against Joe Biden, but I would like to know how he's going to fix all this Salem witch trial logic. The media seems to think he's King Arthur emanating from some misty dimension, all prepared to dispel every bad thing. I think maybe he's a little oversold.
