If you haven't noticed, many fruits have been bred to be larger than wild variants (strawberries, blueberries, etc) because it's easer (read: cheaper) to pick bigger fruits that are sold by weight or volume. And yeah, they tend to have a lot less flavor for whatever biological reason that I don't understand. Store-bought blueberries and strawberries have practically no flavor, especially compared to wild ones. I'm sure you can find whatever you want somewhere, but expect to pay quite a bit more than what you do at Safeway.
