here is a good one..
why in the heck do ancient greeks and especially romans dont have any remains of elaborate masterpiece paintings?
surely, carving stone to be atomically correct is much more difficult than painting a picture, or even just sketching something detailed and impressive.
zero evidence of great portraits. literally none.
both the greeks and romans should account for at least one preserved painting which is comparable to the work of leonardo da vinchi, or anyone relatively modern who can paint good...
but there is none
