Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition
This was the sum total of my Steam Autumn Sale purchases. During the last sale, I think I spent about $4 on Quake and Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders.
I was a little hesitant to buy NWN because people in the Steam reviews were complaining incessantly about the broken interface and other things. They mainly seemed to be upset about how tiny the fonts were. I went into the options and enabled "readable fonts" or whatever it was called. I was able to read everything just fine, and I'm about half blind. Other than that, the only problem I had was that the game started in a window and seemed to have no option for full screen. Actually, this led to another problem, namely that I couldn't use the mouse to rotate the camera. I spent less than a minute in Google and fixed both problems. Everything worked perfectly after that.
With technical difficulties resolved, I was at full liberty to experience how amazingly boring this game is. I had forgotten how tedious it was to go around opening crates, getting into prolonged fights with copy/pasted enemies, seeing the same tile sets for all interiors, and listening to silence once a musical .wav file finished.
Compared to NWN, Dungeon Siege is a thrill ride of variety and engagement. I'm happy to report that I only gave Gaben $5 for it.
