RE: 3DS is still busted
I can't argue that the screens in general look like butt. The resolution is just too damn low and I often find myself switching over to my Vita just so I can actually get a game that is running at an ok res.
But my point stands, playing Monster Hunter on the XL was much less enjoyable, because while the game is already pretty muddy looking, it was worse on the XL. And I think the screens in the 2DS and N3DS are the exact same, but I can't say for certain.
As for bringing it with me, I just don't take any electronics aside from my phone out of my house. The rare exception is going on a road trip or something. That definitely makes the case for a bigger device like an XL, but I just can't tolerate the size. Even my Vita is on the verge of being too big and sometimes I just like my PSP Go better, because I can forget it's even in my pocket.
This is also why I'd like a Switch, but haven't bothered, because they're just so huge.
