It can't be The Atlantic Monthly because I think they only print 10 issues a year now. It's weird, but I have a hard time reading paper anymore. I haven't even flipped through the the past several issues, and instead just find myself reading their articles on my phone when I have the time or patience to do so.

I don't know much about the gaming press, other than when I'm looking for a quick review on a game I'm considering purchasing. I suspect it's not different from pretty much any other press that covers consumer goods. I gave up on tech sites long ago (before I even stopped really giving a shit about consumer tech) for reasons that sound nearly identical to your examples.

As for Jalopnik, the most worthwhile reading on that site is the comments, but I very rarely visit it anymore. Torch's frequent off the wall posts are probably the most entertaining, but even that isn't enough to keep me coming back for more. As far as blogs go, I really only keep up on hackaday. Otherwise, the vast majority of my reading is on technical subject matter to improve my understanding on specific topic details, which comes from sources ranging from forums, people's personal blogs, white papers, a thesis or other research publications. That's probably much better for my well-being than all the bought off shit-tier press/journalism that's out there. But even the quality stuff is often just too depressing or frustrating to read about.
