Departing briefly from your Übermensch complex, I agree that the UI is not appropriate for the game, but I think this will be fixed. To me, the writing is indistinguishable from that of the earlier games. I am, however, sometimes distracted by the crazed appearance of the NPCs. This probably affects dialogue immersion.
The game definitely has a ways to go before it gets to my idea of 1.0, but it's really good right now. The AI is about the same as it was in Warband, but the whole thing looks better. The battle music is quite spiffy and ripping and all that.
It's basically Warband 1.5 with redone models and graphics, but there's a lot more under the hood re: the society and politics. That's what I want to get further into.
