Yup, Gameboy screen is awful
Received my Pocket today, finally. I have the new IPS screen ready to go in, but I decided to preserve the original shell and not hack it to pieces, so I ordered a new one. Trying it out, it's exactly as bad as I remembered it; I'm in a well lit room, with the Pocket pointed toward the light source and I'm still straining to see the damn screen.
Otherwise, I'm a little surprised by how cheap it feels; it's been decades since I held a Gameboy, so I didn't really remember what it felt like, but it's definitely not quite up to spec of a newer device like a 3DS or Vita. At any rate, I paid $32 for it on eBay, but the seller managed to leave Dr. Mario in the system, which is worth $8 on its own, so not too bad.
