RE: Doom 2016
I loved both Doom and Eternal, Eternal less so but it was still a really fun game in different ways.
I don't like how rare it has become for modern first person shooters to reward, y'know, actual shooting skill, fast reflexes and smart movement, or: The things FPS games are supposed to be about. Seems lately, most of the time they're about how much time you decide to sink into their levelling systems or the classic "hide behind a corner while your health regenerates" poop. Doom and Eternal both did away with those things with some sensible design choices, all the while also raising the skill ceiling enough to cater to players seeking a hard challenge. Eternal is the first game in a loooong damn while that made me really try as I cleared ultra nightmare, and I respect that quite a bit.
... And then 10 dollar Ultrakill came along and crapped all over both games.
