Subject: RE: State of graphics cards indefinitely

I think both AMD and Nvidia claimed to have made a slightly bigger quantity of their new cards than usual, but they were bum rushed by the unprecedented number of Covid shut-ins trying to upgrade or build a first-time computer. You have a very good point about the fab problem. I hadn't thought of that. My belief, though, is that a huge number of cards -- more than people imagine -- are being bought up wholesale by miners. AMD and Nvidia have the luxury of instant massive sales directly to these customers -- I mean truckfulls at a time. They get them before anyone else. This would at least partly explain why retailers can't get them. We already know why they can't keep them -- scalpers, gougers, and real customers are simultaneously botting the crap out of them. This is a real paradigm shift which I don't see changing anytime soon, perhaps not for a year or two.
