heres a tough one
take your typical city girl, from the 1940s,
the one portrayed in the movie 'scarlet street'
how did these women practice contraception?
i know of the standard methods of the time, both the diaphragm and feminine hygiene type products, though im not sure if they were ever popular, or specifically popular with this scarlet type girl.
im wondering, or almost certain there was a common method these girls used for the time, which wasnt an actual contraceptive.
maybe it was a practice or a superstitious belief?
i would really like to know this, not for any perverse sake, but more of just getting more of an accurate picture of the period
