yeah taxi is brilliant,
it bothers me how the rating on this specific film is so low. it makes it especially bothersome
cagney plays a one of a kind role here, not too far from his usual roles but still different. its great, he is completely liberal on beating women too. gosh some of these pre code films are so unique. this whole damn film is totally unique. he just beats the shit out of everybody.
a film is 100% in its actors. how they compose themselves. the interactions, how other actors fit together. how they speak, but
not the literal words they speak but the composure of it. the subtle movements they make, how they breath. how they look, their facial structure in relation to their role. tons of variables.
....what actually makes them likeable
this is the only thing which makes a good film. 0% plot. 100% actors.
0% "meaning" of the story, or any sense or purpose in plot. so many people just dont understand this. they need the computational puzzle pieces to fit, for some kind of peasant self satisfaction in logical justification or someshit. some brainwash garbage they learned in school.
anyway yeah taxi totally nails it here.
its true rating, with its historical value in how unique of a film this is,
is a 10 out of fucking 10
