I can see production shortages (if true) having an effect and people being bored during lockdown, but I suspect the biggest reason is the same as it always is: people freaking out and hoarding a bunch of ammo because "shit is gonna hit the fan" and thus are going to have to take on the whole country as a Call of Duty super soldier. I know saying that would irritate a whole bunch of shooting enthusiasts, but the fact of the matter is, I've known so many fucking gun owners out there with that mentality. It's a safe bet that those people are the ones to thank for the high cost of ammo, as usual.
