None of that explains the auction I linked though. On ebay you can get a GTX 570 for a quarter of the price which is not only faster, but uses less power.
Also, the cryptominer reason doesn't make as much sense either. Anyone doing long term mining is going to use an ASIC rig instead of a gpu.
