its so strange, her face varies so widely.
its the way they paint it,
it differs from film to film.
pre code and silent were the best years, but there are a few of those films where they get it wrong too. but its still unlike the shitshow which is post 1940 joan.
her ugly pre code moments are because of period styling, the eyebrows, eyes, lips and hair get those strange hideous makeup stylings of those days.
but some films bypass this and nail her natural beauty.
you can easily see this on her wikipedia articles. there are a couple of pre code pics mixed in with the post code trainwreck they did on her.
