Subject: contending with history

the current understanding of ancient sea travel is a bit of a mystery to me.
mainly because ive not given it much thought - of this current historical understanding of it.
because its a bit of a nuisance in itself, but im sure there is decent reason for it.

ancient travel to the americas by civilizations such as the greeks and romans surely did exist. the best evidence for that would be mayan ruins. the carvings and artistic ornate designs follow similar principals as greek or roman. how is this not completely obvious?

obviously they are not direct copies of those works, but its exactly as if they received the same teachings. its their own exact primitive cultural rendition of it.

the ancients surely knew land existed far out west, flores island being the most western point of the ancient world, was surely an indication that further land would exist and could be discovered at great distances while out at sea, far out from the main lands.
their vessels were surely capable of global travel. its silly how sail is considered to be more worthy of this when in fact the ore is much more capable. i mean everything about this whole thing is ridiculous.

do people expect documented evidence of this? its completely ridiculous.
this theory fits so well into place. especially the logistics of it. obviously nothing much came of these expeditions because it doesnt seem like there was any worthwhile reason to them. its extremely difficult to travel by sea. competent people would be hesitant to do this. what riches do the americas really have to offer to the greeks they couldnt find at home? you can search a 100 mile radias anywhere in america and find nothing. no metals ores, nothing. what would the americas offer that would make commerce at such vast distance worthwile?

food, animals?
their foods would have been uninteresting compared any old world stuff. there would be no indications of any worthwhile foods. beans and corn in their native state were especially bland. and even if they were to return with some of these foods to grow, we wouldnt know it even if these foods were successful to some limited extent. the qancient greeks could have had fields of corn at one time and we wouldnt know. because its extremely easy for this evidence to be completely lost.
what would you find if you spotted american land? it would take hundreds of miles of coast just to spot meager signs of human existance, and then finally contacting those humans, who are basically animals and know nothing. finding their boring foods, maybe establishing some basic communications to learn more about some other foods or metal deposits. it would have been sparse shits to gain.
they had some interest in the mayans or whatever shit people down there obviously some effort was made to teach them. but nothing ever panned out.

and history really believes the ancient greeks didnt travel to the americas because of this?
its absurd
