RE: man i really love watching old noir
its the distance
when i watch these old films i am viewing something very far away.. far enough to be considered an abyss, one which which spans into our earthly nights.
and in this abyss is a lowly cafe, dimly lit by incandescent municipal street light and fueled by coal gas, where everyone inside is dressed almost identical in fedora and suit. all strangers but yet somehow know eachother.
and suddenly, within the deepest blackest reach, a female appears, typically a bombshell. and she is there for you,
for your viewing pleasure.
its pretty difficult to find anyone who can compete with these 1930s/40s abyssal cafe women. women such as Linda Darnell who i would consider as peak noir
