Anyways, outside of Hollywood fantasy, the only thing the Thompson was really famous at was for being a consistently shitty gun. It was heavy, inaccurate, jammed constantly, and used 45acp which is slow and heavy. 100 rounds of that stuff weighs 5 lbs.
