Subject: Random observations

I haven't seen this interview, but supposedly Emily Blunt commented that she didn't like playing action roles. I have no real reason to doubt that she said it and meant it since she does so many girly parts and does them so well, e.g., Young Victoria, The Girl on the Train, The Devil Wears Prada, Sunshine Cleaning, The Wolfman, and maybe my favorite: the role of "The Girl" in Wind Chill. If you're not in love with her after seeing Wind Chill, there's something deeply wrong with you.

Anyway, the thing is that she does the rare action hero so well that I must rate her pro++. Her Rita Vrataski, a.k.a. the "Angel of Verdun," is so kickass that she puts Rhonda Rousey and Zoe Bell to shame. I want everyone to write her an email and get her to do a gunslinger like Sharon Stone in The Quick and the Dead, or maybe a grimdark vampire hunter going after Kate Beckinsale in the final Underworld movie. That would be, like, awesome.

On a completely different front, I bought a portable air conditioner -- one of those things that roll around on the floor and don't have to be installed in a window. It was fine until it started leaking water all over the place. I had to come up with a Rube Goldberg solution with plastic pans and a garden hose and other things, including a one-inch hole saw, which was stupid because that's probably the only time I'll use it. I'm testing the solution now. It may need adjustment because it relies on gravity, so I may have to do some slight elevation.

Also, if you're trying to convert a complex Word document into a .pdf file that has to be 100% accessible (i.e., readable by voice software and so on), Adobe Acrobat Pro will not stop finding problems. If you correct one thing, it will create two new problems that it supposedly didn't see before. It goes on and on, and it will NEVER pass your document unless you just manually pass it yourself. Adobe is vile.

All righty. I think that catches me up. I have some things to say about Outer Worlds, but I'll save that for later when I'm further along in the game. Busy times.
