They make a lot of epics, if you count asplosions, collapsing buildings, and excessive CG slo-mo money shots as epic, and if you count the Marvel and DC universes as appropriate epic material.
They keep making these things because people pay to see them. I suspect people pay to see them because otherwise there's nothing else to see except the latest self-indulgent derivative horror muck directed by the latest trendy film school graduate with a Middle Eastern or Asian name.
Once people finally get tired of the SJW/woke preaching and revisions of the MCU/DC and Star Wars cash cows, investor groups will start funding a new wave of movies which Hollywood will label "neo-entertainment" or something, as if they got ahead of the curve. But I don't think they'll ever completely get their heads out of their asses, so enjoy the old movies while you can. It's only a matter of time before they get paywalled up the wazoo.
