Honestly, I think the main reason Blood2 gets shit on as badly as it does is because it attempts to pass itself off as a sequel to a highly regarded shooter.
Well, that and the fact that it had a dumb story, terrible atmosphere, schizophrenic transitions, incompetent level design, awful enemies, undercooked weapons, and an art design that seemed determined to wash everything in a color scheme reminiscent of canned mushrooms and asparagus. Not fresh asparagus; also canned.
Half-Life was overrated, but next to games like Blood 2 and Sin, it looked like a Nobel Prize candidate.
