Subject: RE: ILA - re: BL3 leveling

Oh, also, I'm guilty of automatically selling a lot of things that aren't legendaries. I'm learning to look more carefully at rares and uniques (blues) and epics (purples). Even some uncommons (greens) can be surprisingly powerful, e.g., shotguns and sniper rifles. Sometimes I'll "field test" an especially promising non-legendary and discover that it's great.

Jacobs and Vladof have some impressive blue/purple assault rifles. Maliwan is a go-to for elemental damage if you can get a tolerable charge delay. Some Maliwans are extremely powerful with reduced delays; others are unusable. A few are OP.

My go-to favorite non-legendaries are Tediores with "throw on reload" properties, but these can be iffy. Pistols are usually best avoided because they do can seek random targets when thrown, including you. The smg's tend to be better, especially if they explicitly seek enemies and/or stick to surfaces. Some can be thrown directly at enemies as grenades, and for some reason the explosions are insanely powerful.

Speaking of grenades, some of the legendaries are good, but just as often they're gimmicky and don't have very good shelf lives. I've started field testing blues with good damage and useful effects that I find in vending machines.

Legendary guns are often overrated. Some are no better than uncommons. Some, however, are absurdly OP, like the Companion pistol I got at level 28 and was still crit/one-shotting common enemies when I got into the 40s. You never know.
