From what I can tell by looking at a few forums, a lot of people agree that OMD3 has a number of design flaws. Chief among them is the mashing together of OMD2 and Unleashed. OMD2 fans want stronger traps and more money. Unleashed fans want more heroes with better abilities. They're both wrong. What the game needs is more lava.
As we know, the great games -- the classics, the games that endure -- have gobs of unsafe ledges and precipices overlooking copious lakes of lava. Good developers know that the player's attention should always be divided between surviving monster attacks and bad architecture. What's the point of a game without lava? I guess there are baking simulators and whatnot for those who object to the presence of molten hazards, but real gamers find meaning in death by lava. Such deaths are, you might say, a way of life.
To reiterate: the number one shortcoming of OMD3 is insufficient quantities of lava. I can only hope the designers will address this in the very next patch.
