This map is killing me.

You start with 4000 coin. You have two ways to go about things: (1) use barricades; (2) do without barricades.

If you choose (2), you must find a way to stop enemies coming from two doors simultaneously, beginning with wave 2. You cannot simply defend door 1 until wave 1 ends, sell your traps, and move over to door 2. The countdowns between breaks are three seconds, which means you have to cross over and try to rebuild at door 1 while enemies are charging through both doors. One way to do it is to use the blade staff with life steal and hope you can sneak in a trap or two when waves thin out, but you can't let enemies at the other door break out. This is very difficult because it takes only one hit from an ogre to lose control of everything.

If you choose (2), you can start on a killbox, but you can only afford two barricades, two tar traps, and one dart spitter with ice. In other words, you have to control all enemies coming from door 1 with a slight improvement in pathing, a slight slowdown, and ice with a long cooldown. If you're really lucky, you can chase enemies down a long hallway while getting shot by crossbows and maybe stop everything before another sub-wave is already charging down the same hallway, well past your weak killbox.

I've seen videos of people successfully completing this level, but with the exception of a very good melee player, they were all made before the August patch. This patch nerfed a number of useful traps and did something (vaguely described) to crowd control -- in favor of the orcs. This may explain why I cannot find a way to stop the second subwave -- this and the fact that crossbow orcs hit much harder than they did in OMD2.

If I don't find a way soon, I may give up and play endless.

I'm not even going to try the Drastic Steps DLC. I started the first map and it's more of the same, only now with flyers coming out of three portals along with ten million orcs across a causeway that won't allow a large portion of its surface to be trapped. Ergh.
