the coolest think about the xbox controller is how it can be fully operated with one hand
as you may know, i use the controller to navigate windows using an app from steam known as controller companion. its quite spiffy in that it does exactly what it needs to do and does it right. the mouse acceleration curve for the thumbsticks are just right, and i am super picky with such things. plus of course they are adjustable
anayway, placing your entire hand over the controller while its normally resting on any surface allows you to easily manipulate the left and right thumbsticks simultainously with your index finger and ring fingers.
your index finger always rests on he left stick, while your ring finger and pinky easily shift from manipulating the right stick (mouse scroll function) to clicking the a b x y buttons
it feels very natural, its quite simple to do. there is no effort in doing this. it actually feels damn elite.
but it helps if you are in a position where you are very close to the surface of the controller. such as laying down in a bed. its actually perfect for that
very versitile, to switch from operating the controller with both hands, to operating it by a single hand after placing the controller down
