Subject: RE: beh-hur

perfect example of how movies better convey peoples work.
the original book would have been a waste to read, its quite frivolous to dedicate actual time reading fictitious nonsense. back in the 19th century however, this would have been a great read.
but since we dont live in times where darkness dictates our mobility, you know, written fiction is actually a waste of time, unless of course someone actually makes art out of it. basically attaching literary bling. something high fantasy such as the lord of the rings. there are actually several things going on with those books which actually make it one of the few worthy examples of fiction which hold up today

but anyway, there is simply no realistic way of conveying the author of ben-hurs work other than putting it on film. its great that someone, actually many people took the time and effort to translate this mans work. nobody really appreciates movies for what they are. its the exact opposite where people somehow believe the book is superior.
how is this not pretentious stupidity?
books are a meager form of entertainment for people with nothing. nobody really understands the times before electricity. its such a pitiful state of humanity no matter how you glamorize it.
how is reading fiction somehow related to intelligence? what kind of fucking dumb ass would take interest in something which is entirely irrelevant to anything?
oo wow whats going to happen to this character wow who knows.. better process more blocks of text to find out.
and of course is much more sophisticated than seeing actual people, hearing their breath, watching their smiles. actually witnessing the human nature, connected to actual people.
it is poverty to only describe something like this rather than actually witness it.
and there are so many things which you can never adequately describe without seeing it. its impossible to describe what only an actual witness may know
