Agree 100%, ILA.

By better designed, I mean, in brief, that D2 doesn't have much of an end game. Nearly all monsters in Hell difficulty are immune to at least one kind of damage; some have two or three immunities. The "solution" is to engage in violent protracted gambling in the form of fighting bosses over and over and hoping to get X item. Even then, that doesn't solve the immunity problem. Players have to resort to unfocused "double major" builds or focused ones that do a certain kind of damage, which often has no effect. They have to rely on mercenaries to finish off problematic enemies. That's simply idiotic.

This is only one problem. It's too tiring to go into all the others. D3, conversely, has an excellent end game with extremely powerful and thoughtfully synergized items. Skills can be changed on the fly. Crafting is much more advanced. The list goes on.

The art design is sort of bland and WoW-ish, but I think people make too much of D2's look and feel. It's more interesting, but much of the "dark" appeal can be attributed to the absence of light radius. This is not exactly ingenious.

There.
