Vice has some talented prose writers that contribute to it from time to time, but altogether as a publication it can rarely climb out of its own ass, in my opinion.
Lowtax was an angry contrarian, self aggrandizing mess. I'm not sure he hated the internet so much as he resented it because he loved it so much. Maybe that's the same thing.
