Lowtax was continuously asking for cash to upgrade things on the forums, saying that they were in dire financial straits, hosting was expensive as hell. Plus his neck bones started melting or something and he had huge medical bills, etc. At one point well meaning goons ran his patreon up to five figures a month on the assumption it would help with medical bills. Then when the news came out that he abused yet another wife it crashed down to like $300 per month, and he was forced to sell the site.
LA's gofundme was actually set up in solidarity by a previous ex wife to help her when she had to flee with child, and then go into hiding when she got followed or whatever. Because of the ongoing court actions she was not allowed to leave the US for like 2 and a half years, so she could not work plus had to pay a retainer for council.
