but what i cant determine with certainty is the mechanism involved at the filter
its either the filter becoming more porous as the tar dries, sort of changing its composition, leaving cavities behind, tearing the filter material away. especially if you grip the filter or manipulate it otherwise, maybe orally.
or perhaps if its the dried tar itself simply occupying more space and allowing less of the filter media to be effective
i am certain that the fresh sticky tar is highly effective in filtering more tar as it passes through. but only when fresh
