Subject: RE: What do you think?

To be clear:

America cannot indefinitely remain a first-world country. You cannot be first-world when you rely almost exclusively on other countries for production and resources. Therefore, the choice America must face is how it becomes a third-world country. Choice 1 is to weaken and rot over time, losing its interests and becoming the involuntary invalid of the world like Great Britain. Choice 2 is to tear the bandage off voluntarily and embark on a long, arduous journey toward increased self-reliance. The latter approach is the only one that provides a sustainable path back to true first-world status.

"But . . . but . . . won't the superpowers exploit this? Won't they do everything they can to carve us up?"

Of course. This is why we must have a Declaration of Recovery - a PR notice to the world stating our intention of voluntarily undergoing hardship in order to renew ourselves. The Declaration of Independence was a PR move, among other things. It cast the colonies as poor underdogs attempting to rise above tyranny. Who wants to be cast as the tyrant? It also tacitly invited the support of strong nations like France. The Declaration of Recovery would serve different purposes for a different time, but the PR move would alert the world to the potential rapacity of other superpowers, thus earning them censure should they make aggressive moves.

If America wants to be fixed, it has to do without and prepare for international tension. This is the true price of a chicken in every pot.
