Another interesting Peck sort of western is The Old Gringo. It's based on the Carlos Fuentes novel, which speculates about what happened in 1913 to Ambrose Bierce after he joined Pancho Villa's army. The only other movie that deals with Bierce's disappearance, to my knowledge, is From Dusk till Dawn 3. So now you know. Pfftt.
