Yes, pretty much all forms of fortify, especially alchemy, are horribly abused in Skyrim. This was lazy development. Good call about that.

I get the need to make ebony and dragon weapons hard to acquire. That's the way they should be. I also get the Ordinator idea.

However, I still am puzzled by the concept of so many mats needed for one weapon . . . UNLESS the smithing process relies on purity or, as mentioned, extrusion of some kind of essence. This would make the quantity more or less sensible -- like you can't just take a sword's weight in ingots or bones/hides and make a weapon of equivalent weight/mass. You have to draw out the impurities to get to some kind of essential ingredient. That I could see.

At least this would work for ebony. For dragon weapons, instead of requiring a truckload of remnants, just reduce the number of dragon spawns. They shouldn't be cluttering up the sky like cliff racers. A dragon should be a rare and fearsome thing. I'm sure there are a million mods for this already.
