but yes, do consider other possibilities for these carvings
i obviously suspect galley mutiny,
but it could also be something much more sinister
it could be a very disgraceful defeat of a roman expedition to that region. where their slaves were made kings but only as a very clever mockery to the empire itself. in which case would be quite brilliant and something to admire.
there are also other possible scenarios, some even more scandalous, but i think mutiny would perhaps be the easiest to ponder
