one thing most absolutely certain is the understanding of such offensiveness of carved africans. how this directly applies to the ancient romans. but also all of the ancient world. and oh yes it really does.
carvings were held in such high regard by all of the old world. there was a certain understood law and respect for them. this is a highly specific insult you see. with most absolute certainty
