RE: once again i have gotten it all wrong
As for Spartacus, it was pretty impressive for 1960. Kirk was just Kirk. Dalton Trubo's script was good for the time (big story behind that, btw). Kubrick's direction was okay. The real reason to watch is for the performances by Laurence Olivier, Charles Laughton, Peter Ustinov, and the especially good Jean Simmons. Tony Curtis was horrible as usual.
