Lineage of M'aiq
It seems clear by now that the M'aiqs in Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and ESO are either no ordinary mortal khajiit, or they are different characters. I am inclined to think they are members of a family whose sons are either frequently or always named M'aiq. For generations, they have faithfully carried on their ancestors' tradition of trolling wayfarers.
M'aiq's appearance in all these games means that he has been around for over a thousand years, which of course is not possible unless he's (a) some kind of Daedric entity or (b) many different M'aiqs. Indirect evidence for the family theory has been found in ESO's Stonefalls area, where, as I understand it, observant players can locate a flute with the inscription "A gift from M'aiq to his son, M'aiq."
Danged eerie if you ask me.
