RE: I'm actually enjoying Skyrim
I know. Ain't it great?
Bethesda continues their wonderful history of bugs, hilarious design, and exploits, both intentional and unintentional. I can't help loving it.
If you drive yourself crazy finding all 24 of the Barenziah stones and complete the quest for Vex in the Thieves Guild, from then on every random chest, urn, and draugr corpse will contain scads of gems. Thieves Guild fences in several cities will buy them. At a certain point, the fences have 4000 gold, so basically you have a money printing machine. It's not quite as good as the Ordinator armor/Creeper machine in Morrowind, but I've easily been able to afford houses in all the major towns except Windhelm, where a bug prevented the murder mystery from starting and therefore made the house impossible to get.
There are quite a lot of unintentional machines, like the well-known Restoration loop which lets you make ridiculous alchemy potions, the merchant inventory reset, etc. They're all clumsy and combine with the 5-level training limitation to make life awkward. All of which makes me love Morrowind even more for its insane intentional exploits.
I'm sure Starfield will be completely exploit-free, thanks to rigorous quality control.
