RE: mechanics assessment run
what im feeling so far, is generally in line with my previous assessments, which i hardly remember. ahem.
ammunition should definitely be more scarce but firearms should consequently be more powerful. traveling east from a new game had me unloading rounds into hp sponge bobs. it felt like xbox mmo trash. the guns also sound weak like plastic manchild junk. they need so much more oomf. its so cheap.
slugging 10mm rounds into a ghoul should definitely tear it up.
so anyway, ive learned much since my last attempt at modding this game. i feel i can balance it properly now instead of juggling half ass mods from other people, which was exactly what i had to do with my last playthrough. the ones i posted videos of.
currently im analyzing the drops rates for everything, and also the availability of recourses from items which have been placed into the world by hand. a few ideas im juggling are rare ingredients. military circuit boards for example are likely going to be just one premium ingredient which would play into high level crafting. theres so much work to be done though. its unreal. but this is going to be a competent and fun game. balanced and challenging.
both humanoid enemies and mosnters are going to have proper ranks for high level play. with proper equipment and monsters who actually do damange with hand edited stats. its going to follow the official formulas. nothing is going to deviate from the great but limited balance which has already been established.
moving back to damage, right now the idea im toying with seems to be weapons doing 1.5x base damage, with each perk gaining another 10%. for a maximum of 200% damage or however many ranks are to any specific weapons perk.
this is going to be offset by increased spawns for certain enemy types, and the spawn rates will also be balanced and hand selected. certain ranks of specific enemies will have increased numbers, especially later on in the game.
however melee is not going to change. it will retain the same exact vanilla formula and will also be more necessary skill to utilize early on.
this is all what im just thinking right now from early assment
