RE: Horizon Zero Dawn
I had a lot of fun with it. Like you said, the environments are great and Aloy is an enjoyable main character. The front story was okay, but I was really involved with the backstory about how the world ended up the way it did. (John Gonzalez, the lead writer for New Vegas, also wrote HZD.) Some of the voice acting in the audio logs is just incredible and absolutely sells the horror at the end of the world.
There is an expansion too, but I was pretty exhausted by the end of the game and didn't feel the urge to play it. Beating open-world games always leaves me feeling like I just ran a marathon. RDR 2 especially. It's a great game but it would be twice as good if it was half as long.
